MR. REVIEW has had a tumultuous history over the last 25 years. A steep rise, the band's separation, and now a new album from perhaps the most famous Dutch ska band. Yes, maybe even one of the most well-known ska bands in all of Europe.
On the anniversary album, MR. REVIEW presents twelve ska songs that are simply perfect.
They feature beautiful, sometimes poppy, sometimes slightly rocky melodies in the 2Tone style. In the band's well-known style. Some call this style "European Ska," although this is probably only helpful for those who fetishize categories. For everyone else, it's simply ska that knows where it comes from and doesn't need to embellish it, because ska is just ska. It's music to dance to.
Although the lyrics of MR. REVIEW are certainly not always for dancing, the music is 100% danceable. Fine ska beat, complemented by the perfectly placed voice of singer Dr. Rude and a band that plays together flawlessly. There's not much more to say.
The legend lives on!
As long as there are bands like MR. REVIEW, even the darkest and coldest days will end beautifully. I can confirm that myself. After listening to the album, you feel better, more relaxed, and full of optimism!
