After their last album “Hellbilly Storm“, it took seven years for the madness to be captured in the studio again. As soon as the band was in the studio and had recorded the material, mixer Tim Buktu went to Sweden to quietly give the sound its final touches. He returned to Germany, everything was ready and could be released, when Tim suffered a heart attack and passed away. This blow hit the band hard, as Tim Buktu was more than just a business partner; he was a close friend who had already taken care of the record “Hellucifernation“ back in 1999.
However, with the support of their label, they continued, and now we can look forward to “Welcome back to Insanity Hell“.
Fourteen songs that represent DEMENTED ARE GO better than any album before. The songs sound as if they were recorded live on stage. Upon first listening, I actually thought I was in a concert hall, giving my eyes and ears to the madness. The songs come across just as they are played live. It’s the typical style of the band led by mastermind Sparky, consisting of a mélange of punk, rock’n’roll, psychobilly, and dirty country. The sound has a unique rawness, which is especially thanks to singer Sparky. Many descriptions have tried to capture the voice, but it cannot be perfectly described. You have to experience it, hear it, and above all, see the man behind DEMENTED ARE GO.
Alongside the expected songs, fast wrecking numbers with beautiful titles like “Retarded Whore“, “Epileptic Fit“ (the lyrics describe what happens at a concert of the band), or “Bodies in the Basement“, there are also calm pieces like “Gone“.
