With KILLERTON, another German rock band is trying to fill the gap left by BÖHSE ONKELZ in the music landscape. However, while most bands attempt this in a blunt and brash manner, KILLERTON already shows significantly more style. The 13 songs plus the two bonus tracks from the debut album "Unsere Welt" are not the first songs from the 5 Nuremberg musicians. Although the band has only been around for 2 years, all members of KILLERTON have already gained plenty of stage experience.
Lyrically, there’s actually nothing new in the 55 minutes of playtime. Singer Karsten Doczik sings about drinking, parties, friends, and the past. But also about feelings, lies, hatred, naivety, as well as losers and football, with the song "König Fußball" being my least favorite, as it feels too banal to me. In summary, "Unsere Welt" features quite typical German rock songs, most of which are very well arranged.
So far, both thumbs are up, but now come the vetoes. Since KILLERTON covers BÖHSE ONKELZ and FREIWILD at their gigs, I miss a clear stance from the band against right-wing assholes. They could have incorporated this very well into the songs "Goodbye Deutschland" or "Es ist die Zeit". The lyrics lend themselves to this, but as they are, they remain ambiguous and can be interpreted differently. That gives a big minus for me!
However, there is a big plus point for the complete layout, from the digipack to the booklet. I really like it! 1A***
