OUT OF STEP from Hamburg is a band to remember, as they will surely be playing in your city soon! At least if I can trust the impressive digipack, which features over 50 concert posters from their gigs. However, the booklet could have been a bit more extensive.
The 13 hardcore songs on their first full-length album are bursting with energy and hit you hard for between 14 and 149 seconds. Accordingly, "Mr. X and Mr. T" would be over after just 19 minutes of playtime, but fortunately, they included 5 live songs from March 2011 and 6 songs from their 2007 demo, bringing their debut album to a total of 42 minutes of playtime. This is quite remarkable for a hardcore band that has proudly embraced the ideology of Straight Edge. This is likely also the origin of their band name OUT OF STEP, which was the title of a song by MINOR THREAT over 30 years ago that marked the beginning of the Straight Edge movement.
Back to the 2007 demo recording, the 6 songs come across just as great as the new tracks, thumbs up. However, the live recording is garbage!!! The recording sounds like a rehearsal with some well-spirited friends using a cassette recorder. How do I know this? Because we did it that way back then ;-)
