TRUSTGOD SIMON vs. Traugott Simon, what similarities or differences does the band from Dinslaken have with the beer from Cologne-Kalk? Let me start with the Kölsch, there are many bad beers, Traugott Simon definitely belongs to that category. Traugott Simon is cat piss par excellence!
TRUSTGOD SIMON can only be better, but anyone who derives their band name from such a crappy beer is capable of anything. Thank God that’s not the case, and the five guys, or rather men in their prime, fittingly play their song "Jahrgang 1970" (!), with a mix of bro-punk and a little bit of political punk straight into my little punk heart.
With appealing chords and catchy lyrics, the 15 songs are easy to listen to and will be in constant rotation at the upcoming parties, where the beer will flow freely, alongside KASSIERER, EISENPIMMEL, and LOKALMATRADORE, the latter of whom covered "in den Arsch" with altered lyrics. Just good old beer-loving punk rock. Some songs really resonate with my previously mentioned punk rock heart, "Am besten kann ich saufen", "Diese Party ist scheiße", and "Ich hab' die ganze Nacht gesoffen" hint at how merry and boozy the songs are.
But it can also be different; you can't always drink (no, a nap during the day isn't bad either). Mallorca greets with the party hit "Partys, Palmen, Weiber und 'n Bier" in Micky Krause style and "Anders als ihr", which sounds distinctly like WIZO.
However, these songs are just a small variation on this alcohol-glorifying debut album. Still, the 33-minute record plays on repeat for me... I also need to practice the lyrics for the next party ;-)
