Roughnecks

I had never heard of the ROUGHNECKS from Wegeleben in the Harz region until now, but right from the first play, they impress me with some solid, thumping Oi-Punk. Very metal-heavy, partly two-part harmonies, and incredibly catchy guitar melodies combined with a very gritty voice give the songs that final touch, and this runs throughout the album! I particularly enjoy the song "Schöne Welt" on the album, which features a thoughtful text about the state, the media, and the pub brothers with a mindset on the far right. Oi-Punk bands can still take a stand, which is especially important in our music scene, currently infested with right-wing South Tyrolean big shots. The ROUGHNECKS also demonstrate this in the song "Brutal und krank" (Far from rockstar, fat cash, emo crap, and the cheers, also no brown crap, brutal and sick ROUGHNECK). I like it! Otherwise, the album mainly offers themes that invite celebration. Songs like "Sex, Schnaps und Rock`n Roll" or "Tanz mit mir" create a good mood, but the best party song on the album is definitely "Sonntagmorgen." Just something to sing along to! Very nice guitar melodies are also presented in the anthem "Punkrock Love." Great song! The country song "Ganz allein" also offers a beautiful, catchy melody. And the last, country-influenced song "Joe Letscho" is very well done with the included violin. A bit of variety always does well with punk rock. Visually, the CD doesn’t offer anything new in terms of cover ideas; a few topless ladies have already appeared on many covers. However, one must give credit to the designer for doing a great job graphically. The artwork is by Sucker (Ex-Oxymoron, Bad Co.). The title "Sex, Trucks and Rock`n Roll" isn’t innovative either, but with the variety of albums out there, it’s not easy to come up with something new. And it’s also about the content, which can definitely be heard. If you like good Oi-Punk, you can grab this without hesitation!
