Crunchy Swedish old-school hardcore blasts in my ears after I insert the debut CD from REVENGE. Accordingly, the first song "Insomniac" is already over after a solid 1:21 minutes. The second song "Whiteneck" goes even faster, 1,2,3 right in the face "Whiteneck" and done. And after the third song "You´re a fool", just over 3 ¼ minutes of playtime have passed, and you feel like a hurricane has just swept over you. But despite the power in the songs, the melody is not neglected and shapes this album just as much as the charismatic voice of Andreas "Anden" Flygare, who also sings in VENEREA. At least, I haven't heard that VENEREA has disbanded. On the other hand, his VENEREA colleague Daniel Johansson also plays in REVENGE, so it looks more like a band breakup of VENEREA. It's clearer with the SATANIC SURFERS, who passed away in 2007, and now Magnus and Mathias Blixtberg are hitting the side instruments in REVENGE. The fifth member is Stefan Larsson, who is pounding the drums. Back to the album with its 11 tracks, of which my personal highlight is the fourth and longest song at 2:23 minutes, "No gangs, no crews, no affiliations". The typical REVENGE old-school hardcore in this song is spiced up with a touch of ROLLINS BAND and the SPERMBIRDS, from their "Something to prove" / "Nothing is easy" phase. The song is simply a bit more grand than the other 10 songs, which are already very good! That you can also fight hard in 25 seconds is shown by the Swedes in the song "Under Attack", awesome! Unfortunately, the fun is already over after 14 minutes, but the CD is on constant rotation for me anyway!
I should actually deduct half a point for the weak booklet, but since your label Gaphals is also releasing the album as a 12" vinyl, I’ll pass on that, so maximum points to the Swedes!
