So, a bit late, I finally sit here and write about the Frankfurt (Oder) combo "Bockwurschtbude" (Sorry for the delay). The band was founded in 1995 after the dissolution of "Die Kunstblumen".
Bockwurschtbude play "real" German punk. However, they are quite melodic and master their instruments (so more than just three chords). The rough voice of the singer manages to burn the choruses of the songs into your ear. The recordings of the 15 songs on the new album "Back To The Roots" are also of high quality without delivering a "too clean" sound.
Thematically, they sing about happiness or false happiness of the conformists, life, paranoia, death, false friends...
Basically, the lyrics are very intelligent; I didn't find a proper drinking song – but that doesn't bother me, of course. Just a bit of anger against society again ;-)
Unfortunately, my favorite song is the one whose lyrics I like the least: O.S.T. In this song, they attack all the old punk bands. There, Fuckin' Faces, Dritte Wahl, among others, are insulted as emos and winners, N.O.E.s and KVDs "Shit just hurts now". Melodically, the song is top-notch, but lyrically they go a bit too hard.
Every German punk can grab this record without hesitation. No experiments and not just simple strumming and shouting that we've all heard a thousand times.
Track 8 titled "Nacht & Tod" is apparently a cover written by Tom Meyer, publisher: Manuskript or possibly a poem.
