We've been hearing this for years, and yet there are still labels.
One of them is Wolverine Records from Düsseldorf. The label has been active for 21 years and has provided many bands with a platform to gain recognition. Just think of bands like ZSK, Yeti Girls, Frau Doktor, The Sewer Rats, Pipes and Pints, or Fightball. The label is still very active, and they produce what they like. Therefore, it is not surprising that alongside Psychobilly, Ska bands are also being released on the label.
Now that Wolverine Records is 21 years old, it can legally drink alcohol in the USA. So, it has grown up.
Of course, the label could have celebrated itself with a best-of compilation of the last 21 years, but such self-congratulation is far from the label's style. Boldly looking ahead, they are releasing ROOTS! RIOT! RUMBLE!, a label sampler that includes not only current bands but also future label bands.
A whopping 26 songs from as many bands are included in the sampler. The largest portion is covered by Psychobilly, Rockabilly, Punkabilly, and Rock'n'Roll Punk. So, if you enjoy at least one of these styles, you will have a lot of fun with this sampler.
The sampler features well-known bands such as KITTY IN A CASKET, BONSAI KITTEN, THE P.O.X., FIGHTBALL, THE BUCCANEERS, and MIKE ZERO.
