When you hear owl calls and dog barking in the intro, it can only be Metal, Gothic, or… exactly, Psychobilly.

If the band that creates this sound is also called 6 FEET DOWN and their CD bears the truly fitting title “Strange,” then you know clichés are meant to be fulfilled. But that’s not a bad thing, because how many of our ordinary citizens find Psychobilly strange?
6 FEET DOWN come from France, have been together since 2003, and have played over 150 concerts in their 10 years of existence. With “Strange,” they are releasing their second album. While the first album was released on the Psychobilly label Crazy Love Records, this album comes out on the Düsseldorf label Wolverine Records. The Düsseldorf label has a fine touch for good music, which they prove once again here.
6 FEET DOWN play powerful Psychobilly that draws many influences from The Peacocks, Mad Sin, or even the Horrorbillys from Bloodsucking Zombies from outer Space. The double bass is always very present across the eleven songs. The deep, powerful bass sound of this instrument has been well crafted in the studio. The dominance of the bass while listening makes a significant difference, but at times the guitar has been pushed a bit too far into the background.
The English vocals by Gerald are always easy to hear. When the vocals even become harmonized, you can tell that the band has also attended the new Psychobilly school.
6 FEET DOWN showcase what they are capable of on this album. Beautiful melodic arcs, partly harmonized vocals, powerful double bass runs, all of this fits well together.
It’s not surprising that the band is becoming more well-known and popular in the scene. These three men from France are just a lot of fun.
