What a band name VIETCONG PORNSÜRFERS!
Polarizing, provocative, confusing, and ominous. Anyone who calls themselves that must have something up their sleeve.
What started as a pure fun project for four Swedes has now become a fully-fledged band, with tours and festival appearances.
The four Swedes are releasing their second album “We Spread Diseases.” The release will come out on their own label. But not only economically does the band do a lot themselves; musically, they also go their own ways.
Of course, some bands come to mind when listening that resemble the quartet. Gluecifer comes to mind. The Generators fit as well. If The Hives played more straightforward, they might have become something like the VIETCONG PORNSÜRFERS.
The band's style is a mix of (’70s) punk, ’80s rock, a lot of glam, garage, and a dose of craziness.
The twelve songs were hammered out in four days in the studio. The term 'recorded' wouldn’t fit, because with so much energy packed into the songs and the band being so charged, there’s so much spice in there that no one can stand still. There’s screaming, singing, rocking, and yet overall a rather harmonious noise is made.
It’s fun to listen to this album and surrender to the sound. The music is an outbreak, the energy is empowering, and the lyrics are often amusing.
And if you’ve ever wondered who wrote the best song in the world, then listen to the third song “The Best Song.” If you think your band can do it better, then the Swedes say in track 7 “I Hate Your Band” and wish them well with song number four “Selfdestructive.” Yeah! “Don’t Look Back”…and off we go!
This is some seriously awesome shit!
