If someone calls themselves “Forever the sickest kids,” then you can be sure there’s a full blast of underground and action involved. The album title “J.A.C.K.” was created by combining the initials of the band members. This shows incredible creativity and truly reflects the underground and the action.
The band from Dallas surely has influential moms and dads who made a fortune with oil. Otherwise, the rapid rise of the band in the USA cannot be explained. It’s not really underground, but why not use the resources that are available?
If I now say that the band was part of the Vans Warped Tour in 2013 and participated in a fairly large NFL event, then one might have slight doubts about the underground. However, the band seems to create action.
Well, I started with underground and I will end with underground, because the band is anything but underground.
FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS is a genuine pop-punk band that seems to be taking the United States by storm with their soft pop-punk.
It’s a sound that can be marketed well (see Vans Warped Tour and NFL), but at the same time has enough steam under the kettle to be perceived by the masses as a dynamic, energetic band without committing to any political or social stance. They sing about good vibes, a bit of heartache, and some trivialities. This is all wrapped in beautiful, catchy melodies that have been excellently captured by a fantastic production.
This way, one quickly becomes a teenage crush. Not everyone wants to be a total loser like Justin Bieber. You can also do it with a bit more guitar and drums, but of course not too much. You don’t want to cause any trouble.
FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS is not subculture. They are a band that can be used for various marketing ideas and are certainly open to that. The money has to roll, the stadiums need to be filled, and after all, it’s a long way until there’s a poster of them in every teenager's room in the world.
Anyone who likes poppy punk rock with stadium rock attitude and middle-class looks will feel very much at home here. If NOFX is too much underground, then this is the way to go.
All others, stay away!
