RamTatTa - OCTOBER PEOPLE – same

Good things take time. But once you have the (music) recordings in the bag, there's no need to wait 2 years before releasing it to the market! Just because you want to honor the band name and absolutely want to release the album in October. By the way, the CD was initially only available in Spain in 2012, where OCTOBER PEOPLE, not surprisingly, come from. A year later, the self-titled album is now also available in Germany. This doesn’t seem to be unusual; another band, HEROES DEL SILENCIO, was also very well-known in Spain before their records became available in other European countries 1-2 years later. On the other hand, I must admit that despite my intense efforts, I've only come up with four other Spanish bands: CULTURE KULTÜR, DOVER, KILLER BARBIES, and SKA-P. That’s not much for the fourth largest country in Europe (50% more km² than Germany, but Spain also has 40% fewer inhabitants, who apparently can all play football better).
Now the four guys from Madrid have definitely arrived in Europe and are trying to make a name for themselves with their indie rock, which lies somewhere between JOY DIVISION, THE CHAMELEONS, THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, and EDITORS. However, since there are bands like sand on the beach nowadays (certainly not all good, but sand isn’t always clean either), it will probably be very difficult for them, even though the 8 songs are consistently good. OCTOBER PEOPLE definitely cannot touch the spirit of the mentioned 'old' bands from the late 70s and 80s; their sound is simply too clean, and that feeling of wanting to do something new and different, which was still present in the 'old' bands, is missing. Therefore, EDITORS are probably the best comparison. However, since I also like EDITORS, I also like OCTOBER PEOPLE. I would have wished that their sound didn’t sound so mainstream. A bit more individuality would suit the 38-minute long debut album quite well.
Unfortunately, I do not have a booklet, so I cannot say anything about the lyrics, which are all in English. Unfortunately....
