The FAT WRECK CHORDS family has a new member. The new member is called THE LAST GANG and released their debut album on March 2, 2018.
THE LAST GANG is a trio, with Brenna Red on guitar and vocals. She is accompanied by Robert on bass and Sean on drums.
The band is embarking on a tour for their new album, which will take them to Europe after a few concerts in Canada and the USA.
If the band is at least as good live as they are on the CD, it could be great evenings.
THE LAST GANG sounds fresh, plays with motivation, and cares little about genre boundaries. They feel at home in California punk rock just as much as in punk-a-billy, in the harder styles of punk rock as well as in skate punk. The whole thing comes through in a very good recording from the speakers. One must praise the man at the controls, but also the band, which has captured their music on the record very cleanly yet powerfully and full of joy in playing.
Lyrically, they are quite political and socially critical, but just as one expects from bands on FAT WRECK. There is no political punk in the style of Anti Flag here. However, the eyes are open when leaving the house, and thus some lyrics are quite personal.
THE LAST GANG fits well with their music into the FAT WRECK CHORDS family.
Anyone who knows some members of the family will also have fun with THE LAST GANG. Not a reinvention, but a good, fresh band from the States that can show the established combos how to move forward these days.
