OIRO, “Warning Level X“, the new work of the Oiro critics and conspiracy theorists. The Deutsche Mark was better, everyone knew that. Now, we have the Oiro and everything is going to hell. So “Warning Level X“ is only logical, right!
Okay, and now once again with some class and without a bad joke.
OIRO from Düsseldorf released a new album on 07.02.2020.
The band took four years to create this... well, work.
Eleven songs are included on the LP or in the digital release. Eleven songs that remind me of Love A or the quirky Pascow, but also of the Hamburger Schule. Also of music and art students who finally get to let loose.
It’s somewhere between Hamburger Schule student punk and avant-garde noise. Here and there, a few great lines shine through, like:
Is life in the USA really the worst?
I hate the music of the time. I don’t want to get used to it!
No house is big enough for your shitty feelings.
For me, it’s all too exhausting. Not even because of the lyrics, although they don’t exactly push forward either. It’s mainly the sound that quickly starts to annoy me with its samples, noisy drumming, and guitar playing. I have to say that clearly.
OIRO is not my thing.
But for those who like this kind of music and find bands like Love A or Pascow too direct, there’s a good chance to become friends with the four Düsseldorfers from OIRO.
