FRAU DOKTOR are a phenomenon.
The guys from Wiesbaden just can't be kept down. The band actually disbanded, but they still played at special occasions. They fought hard against a reunion, but they just couldn't resist.
In 2018, the band officially announced: Band dissolution failed!
What does that mean?
Clearly, the ten men are back together.
What do you do when you're back together?
You have fun together. You make music.
This music naturally demanded to be released. As we know, resisting is a tricky thing. So, what had to happen, happened. The logical conclusion was: A new album.
Here it is, “Onkel Punk“!
Fitting for the age of the band and its members, and yet somehow not.
What does the band have to do with punk?
Anyone who knows the band knows a lot. Even though they don't play punk music in the strict sense, they are a band that has always clearly expressed their opinion and engaged accordingly. This opinion is clearly presented by the band with “Zeiten“ on this album. A text that is necessary in this time, yes, that can become a new soundtrack in the scene.
Where have the good times gone?
Who doesn't ask themselves that in this time?
They will come back, surely. Engaging for this must be everyone's duty.
This engagement should, yes must, be taken for granted.

“Im Sommer“ is more than a fitting anthem for the next summer. A song that presents itself in a casually pleasant melody and already creates anticipation for the next year. Then everything will surely be better, it has to be, right?

A band like ONKEL DOKTOR is welcome to reflect on their age, especially when they do so in such a pleasant way. The older generation finds themselves in the lyrics.
The CD with its twelve songs (the LP has eleven songs) comes so casually, yet so perfectly and played with a huge portion of groove, that in my eyes it is one of the best records in the Ska genre this year. It might also be the best record the band from Wiesbaden has ever released.
“Onkel Punk“ is a mature yet fresh, energetic album. For dancing, for dreaming, for remembering, and for getting up. An album for life.
