Now SPANDAU has been around for a quarter of a century, wow....
The band, of course, not the city...
And I've known the 4 Hamburgers since the very beginning....
Here is my review of their first demo CD => https://verbotenefruechte.de.tl/cd_reviews-v-1_13-seite-4.htm (yes, you have to search a bit).
Over the years, they have (however) drifted more and more into the emotional indie realm, which can also be read in my last review of their Best Of album "Für Momente wie den einen" for their 20th anniversary => https://www.ramtatta.de/s/reviews/f/details/id/7911/.
This hasn't changed in the last 5 years, although today I prefer their melodic, emotional German-language indie pop (with a touch of punk rock) over the few "new" songs on their Best Of album from 5 years ago. The 11 songs are quite radio-friendly Einslive music in the style of REVOLVERHELD, SIILBERMOND, WIR SIND HELDEN, SPORTFREUNDE STILLER, but also a bit of KRAFTKLUB. So it's quite nice, and for fans of these bands, the new album by SPANDAU comes highly recommended. Personally, it's a bit too much campfire romance for me, but many will love these 36 minutes on "Die Ästhetik des Zerfalls", I'm sure of that. And I wouldn't be surprised if SPANDAU received more attention on the radio.
