These are just a few of the lyrics from the first long player by SINNFREI from Düsseldorf, which bears the beautiful name “Erotik des Zerfalls.”
The sextet from Düsseldorf has taken on the project of an album after several EPs. They have pursued this project with focus and enthusiasm. The result is twelve songs, two of which have already been released, but apparently not in the desired quality, as these two songs have undergone remastering. Now they fit perfectly with the ten other songs.
What the Düsseldorfer have delivered is a well-rounded piece. It is a pleasantly listenable ska-punk mix with excursions into off-beat. The beats are infectious, and you can't help but swing and sing along.
Sometimes SINNFREI remind me of (old) stuff from Sondaschule, and at times they remind me of a very professional school band. I had heard something similar at my first concerts as a pubescent guy and, of course, had a lot of fun.
The “College Song” reminds me of those experiences that the guys from SINNFREI must have had as well.
However, SINNFREI are much more than a school band. The arrangements are more sophisticated, and the lyrics reflect a life experience that an 18-year-old probably hasn't had yet.
SINNFREI are all about fun, sound fresh, youthful, and offer lyrics with depth and life experience.
The whole thing is packaged in an almost artistically inspired digipack with a booklet in which all the lyrics are printed clearly. The band has thought of everything.
For a debut, the band has delivered a solid piece. Hats off!
The Düsseldorfer will also be performing at several concerts this summer. A visit will be worth it, I'm sure of that!
