THE URGONAUTS is a band from northern Italy, specifically from Cesena.
The band name was chosen by the nine musicians who work together collectively. The meaning of the band name is kept a secret; perhaps it is just a fantasy name.

Listening to their music stimulates the imagination. Why?
THE URGONAUTS describe their style as "Agrirocksteady." This captures it quite well and also evokes thoughts of The Aggrolites from the USA, although there are significant stylistic differences here.
The nine Italians mix a lot of styles together. There is certainly a lot of old school involved, but through the special blend that arises when nine members of a band mix their wishes and influences, a very unique, somehow new style has been created. The common foundation is definitely the Jamaican sound of the 60s. On this foundation, (Boss-)Reggae is built, as well as laid-back Ska, danceable Rocksteady, and here and there a hint of Punkrock.
The mix is very danceable and fits perfectly with summer.
Relaxed sound that is just as enjoyable in a hammock as it is at the beach or by the lake, during gatherings with friends, and also on stage or in front of it. It is music that brings people together and motivates movement, but also encourages relaxation. It sounds contradictory, but it is not.
When the band plays in the dark season, they surely manage to conjure the summer and the relaxation of that season into the concert hall for the duration of the gig.
The band’s musical excellence is not only due to their love for what they do, but certainly also because they have been doing it for many years. Musicians from RedSka are just as involved as those from Los Fastidios.
The CD comes with beautiful artwork and a lyric sheet. Unfortunately, the lyrics are not printed in English or German translation in the booklet, so I am unfortunately unable to make a statement about the lyrics of the 14 songs.
THE URGONAUTS have created a lovely summer album with "Namassa" for the relaxed, warm days. Where better to let your thoughts run free and what stimulates the imagination more than relaxed music that you want to drift away with?
