Quiz question:
A ) How many albums have THE METEORS released so far?
B ) How many albums has THE METEORS - mastermind P. Paul Fenech released under his own name, essentially as a solo record?
Answers:
A ) 38 albums (including releases as “The legendary Raw Deal“ & “The Surfin´Dead“)
B ) 11 albums
Now album number 39 is hitting the market. An incredible number of albums that the band has released since the 1980s.
THE METEORS are genre-defining!
Without THE METEORS, Psychobilly as we know it today would probably never have existed.
The band calls themselves “The Kings of Psychobilly“. This is not a lie and their fans have gladly accepted it.
THE METEORS are an institution like hardly any other band.
It is hard to say which albums have been the best of the band so far.
The style that the band plays has remained almost unchanged for many years. Seen this way, everything that comes to market is a new mass that is played. Why should the band change something they love and that has brought very loyal fans to their concerts for many, many years? Why should THE METEORS change anything when they feel good about what they do and who they are?
So it is hardly surprising that “40 Days a Rotting“ features fourteen tracks with such pleasant titles as “Murder Party“, “Doom-Time“ or “The Blood Red Sea“, showcasing exactly what the band has been doing for many years and for which they are so loved.
The unique, scratchy, ominous voice of P. Paul Fenech combined with his very own guitar playing brings so much atmosphere that hardly any other musician can achieve. Add to that the perfectly played drums and the dark bass playing, and we are already in the gloomy, sick world where the band and the fans feel so at home.
THE METEORS have created their own world, full of doom, horror, sick and perhaps even perverse thoughts. Here, the dark and the horror are not just sung about; they are celebrated. They are lived!
The fourteen songs on “40 Days a Rotting“ are thus nothing more and nothing less than another album that will be loved.
