Why is she screaming like that?
Is she in a bad mood?
She definitely has something to say. She is the singer of the band, who gives it her all on the twelve songs. Just like her bandmates. The energy is right.
The band consists of four people who have played or still play in bands like Oma Oklahoma, Tankstelle, Rückbau West, or Bad Affair. So the quartet is quite experienced, and especially in Hamburg, some of these bands should be well-known.
Thus, it is not surprising that the first record by SURREAL FATAL sounds the way it does. The four Hamburgers know what they are doing.
SURREAL FATAL call the whole thing Indie-HC-Punk, which already sounds contradictory. What does Indie have to do with HC, or HC with Indie?
While listening, I thought more of Screamo, but this style comes more from Hardcore, and SURREAL FATAL is really too Indie for that.
So, what is it that comes out of the speakers?
Anarchistic noise?
Musically manifested primal scream therapy?
Boundary-crossing guitar sound meets angry singer?
Call it what you want... one thing is certain. The band has something to say and tries to implement that as best as possible on "Fuge".
Personally, I find it too noisy, but music is and remains a matter of taste.
