In a city in the southwest of Germany, there is not only a large university hospital and breeding grounds for the rarely found Alpine swift (how does the writer know such things?), but there is also an extremely active music scene there. A key player in this scene is Christof Hoff. As a child, while others were still getting nutritious breast milk, Christof was already enjoying plenty of Whisky Puff (an underrated long drink with milk and whisky, no joke). As if that weren't enough, instead of children's songs, he listened to the music of Mr. Kilmister. This had such a strong impact on little Christof that, now a grown man, he couldn't help but emulate his childhood idol. He founded BLACK HEART PROPHET and got started right away.
What came out of it can be heard on “To the Bone“.
A sound that roars from the speakers in the best Motörhead manner. Along with lyrics that address current issues like the war in Ukraine or the pollution with which we are increasingly destroying our habitat.
It is a true joy to listen to the ten tracks.
This is top-notch Motörhead sound. It’s fun and practically encourages air guitar playing.
Now we come to the only catch in this matter. If it hadn't been for Mr. Kilmister and his band, BLACK HEART PROPHET could have created an entire genre with “To the Bone“.
But Motörhead existed, and so the band from the beautiful city of Freiburg im Breisgau will always be compared to the original and will always stand in its shadow.
