What is it with the dear neighbors?
They are as they are, nothing can be done about it.
They love, live, and argue like everyone else, yet they are different. They are very different. They are NASTY NEIGHBOURS.
The NASTY NEIGHBOURS are releasing their second album “Horrorismo!!“, which is part of a trilogy. So, a third album will eventually come out.
Let’s talk about the current album.
The music of Karina Kaos and eMon is a twisted mix of horror punk, pop punk, surf punk, and avant-garde rock’n’roll.
Sounds weird?
It is weird.
In the best moments of the album, I even hear some psychobilly. In the other moments, which dominate the 11 songs, it feels a bit...
well, different. I hear strange sounds that could come from B-movies, where the soundtrack has succumbed to madness, along with musicians who play against it more than with this madness-ridden soundtrack. An inner struggle?
Lyrically, the band addresses horror themes to discuss current issues. This is generally quite a nice idea, but it gets a bit lost for me. This could also be because the lyrics are not always clearly understandable. What good is the best soil if the seeds just won’t sprout?
“Horrorismo!!“ will find its fans, I am quite sure of that. Those who enjoy quirky, twisted sounds will love NASTY NEIGHBOURS.
I’d rather go to my neighbors for an after-work beer.
They aren’t that terrible after all.
At least they haven’t been so far.
