After I expanded my record collection with a few more albums and consequently spent 89 euros at the record store, I seriously considered finding a way to get banned from there. The amount of money I've spent on music in the past few weeks is no joke. In any case, my shopping sprees have now also brought the first album of the Ramones cover band Ramonez 77 into my record shelf. It features 15 songs, 13 of which are original compositions by the band, all of which sound very Ramones-like. There's also a fast punk cover version of T-Rex's 20th Century Boy, which I find very cool, and a cover of the song Beat On The Brat, but with altered lyrics, so instead of beating on the brat, it's beating on the bush. The lyrics to all the songs are included inside the gatefold cover. Unfortunately, for me personally, there are only three real hits on the record, which may be because I haven't been able to connect much with the Ramones, except for one live album. I can't even answer why I bought this record in the first place, which further solidifies the need for a ban from the record store. However, for Ramones fans, this is surely a decent bit of fun. My listening recommendations are definitely Memories, Hollywood, and 20th Century Boy.
