The title fits. THE SLEEPING from New York play prog-pop-rock with a lot of stylistic elements and breaks that, overall, do sound a bit like 80s and 90s stuff, but still come across as refreshing and with enough power and energy. These four gentlemen have a wide range of musical influences, and they know how to implement them. The singer convincingly sings about fate, lost love, and relationships... occasionally, it sounds a bit like INCUBUS, AT THE DRIVE IN, and THE USED. I think this band rocks well LIVE, and attending a show will be a must. This release is definitely not party-friendly. However, it will still make its way into my player a few times. This album is released by Victory Records, and anyone who appreciates more than just Uffta sound should loosen up their pocket money here! The album contains 12 songs, all recorded quite well in February 2006, featuring well-packaged tracks and a nicely designed inlay. In other words: the CD is still hot off the press!
