When the name WEIRD WAYS comes to mind, several things spring to my thoughts: silence, romance, or a sensual atmosphere. Light a few candles, open a bottle of wine, and now just pop the CD into the player, lean back, and close your eyes. Because here comes a great wave of simple coziness, associated with honesty. Whispered here and breathed there, it’s impressive how these three Cologne musicians conjure something truly magnificent from minimalism. With their first release "UNDER WATER 2004," they already showed me a very clear path they want to melt into. These 10 songs have something unique about them. Take an accordion or a glockenspiel, all used minimally - except for the guitars, which occasionally sound natural or finely distorted, softly resonating with the wonderful Inken, who captured my heart in an instant with the first record. This release definitely has much more freshness, and here and there, you get a rebellious feeling in your gut when you listen to the songs HAPPY NOW or AGAIN. My overall impression is very positive, and when I listen to the first record, WEIRD WAYS have definitely taken another step in quality and harmony! Great record, and to be honest, exactly what I expected! As a BONUS, there’s a second supplement as a DVD. Unfortunately, it only contains a single piece, which you can also download nicely from the homepage. The video is superbly made, and a lot of thought has gone into this work. Particularly commendable is the minimalism of WEIRD WAYS. Simple and relaxed guidance shapes coziness and sensuality. Anyone who can engage with something like this should not only think about seeing them live... It’s more of a must to stock up on their fantastic release! Watch video
