BEOWÜLF, founded in 1980 in Venice Beach, California, from the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES environment, brings the typical crossover trash metal sound with a touch of early 80s street punk with WESTMINSTER AND 5TH. It's all about moving forward here. Energetic guitar riffs, the drummer pounds for his life, and the bass supports this entire force. Added to this is the straightforward singing of frontman and founder Dale Henderson. The only criticism of this record is the production. For such an old-school band that still has enough fire in their belly to rock everything away, one could expect a bit more from the sound. My God, what would the opener "Nascar fan", the monotonous "Mission", or the strongly SUICIDAL TENDENCIES sounding "Shall arise" be like for kicks if a master had handled the controls here. Nevertheless, WESTMINSTER AND 5TH is a great record that I can recommend to every rock fan!!!
