RamTatTa - THE GROOVIES – New Sensation

We're really starting to scare the Scandinavians. For years, Finland has been producing a steady stream of great bands, whether in garage or brutal metal. Sweden has its fair share of punk rock bands, and with this album, the Swedes show that they can also play fantastic garage sound. THE GROOVIES have been around for six years, and during this time, the band has evolved from an unknown basement act to a recognized combo. This is certainly due to the fact that the lineup has remained stable, with one exception, and that the band has never lost sight of the focus of their work.
The band's focus is on producing catchy garage rock songs with a voice that swings somewhere between screaming and sung madness. There are melodies that could have been pop songs in another time. Those times are over! Life is not a pony farm, and the stage is not a Li La Lummerland. Lines like “Get up, get drunk, get fucked“ are not for sensitive ears.
Comparisons with THE HIVES may sound cliché, but they are justified, although THE GROOVIES are more rebellious and catchy. Where THE HIVES dive into solos and spheres, THE GROOVIES hit the gas pedal and show that garage sound can also be catchy and captivating even from a CD. The sacrifices the band is willing to make can be seen in the beautifully produced digipack. But that's just a side note.
With “New Sensation“, THE GROOVIES are not only releasing their debut album but also a small milestone. Rarely has garage been so rocking, catchy, and yet not mainstream. THE GROOVIES' new hot material for the clubs!
