So here are THE LAW with their debut CD "A Measure Of Wealth." A release I have been looking forward to. And my excitement was not dampened. ++++ Completely detached from the music, I want to give the first praise (which the band probably cannot be held responsible for), because instead of providing boring burned copies or online streams, Local Boy Records offers stylish digipaks. Somehow, that has something to do with appreciating music. ++++ THE LAW is still a relatively young band, a four-piece from Dundee, and they set out with the goal of delighting the world with another really good Britpop/Indie Rock band. They have succeeded. In almost exactly 40 minutes, there are 11 tracks that should please anyone who enjoys this genre. ++++ Of course, I noticed that this release (especially in Germany) has received some rather negative reviews, but upon listening again, I ask myself: "Why?" What is wrong with mid-tempo tracks? What is wrong if the rock factor doesn't lead to ecstasy? And why on earth is everything that sounds like Britpop and comes to Germany compared to Oasis? And why is it only mediocre if the similarity to Oasis is limited? The only explanation can only be that the understanding of Britpop in this country probably does not go beyond Oasis. ++++ On the island, the band has already made it into the indie charts with their singles, and the New Musical Express also gave the band positive attention. What is offered here is absolutely solid Britpop that sounds exactly as it should. And just to digress… "Television Satellite" could definitely have been created during the good old OASIS times. And to return to the lighter side of the island, "Strings" reminds me not only because of the harmonica of the good old HOUSEMARTINS – great melodies, beautiful hooks, typical vocals; it’s fun. ++++ Even though there is always too much talk about the producer, it should still be mentioned (for good reason!) that Stan Kybert is responsible for this, who has already worked with PAUL WELLER, THE RIFLES, and THE DRAYTONES, and also with OASIS at the controls. ++++ Listen up!!!!
