About a year ago, I reviewed the first EP by ANARBOR, which is also available in physical form. Now it's time for the debut album.
The band from Arizona has worked hard in a short time and has slightly changed their style. While the last EP "Free your mind" was primarily inspired by punk, the songs on their debut album are calmer.
It starts off quite lively, but with very few exceptions, it never becomes as powerful and fast as on "Free your mind".
The band has somewhat turned away from punk and is now more in the indie-alternative-rock realm. However, the songs have never lost their refinement, which I already noticed positively on "Free your mind". On the contrary, the songs feel even more sophisticated, harmonious, and are meant to be discovered. The band manages to pack each song into a melody that not everyone can play back after just three listens. The lyrics are also very well done again. Personal and profound, the texts want to be understood just like the songs. Here, one should spend a few minutes reading the booklet. It's worth it.
ANARBOR has done a lot right on their debut album. The songs are demanding but not overly complex, making them still easy to listen to. The recording fits perfectly with the songs, so as a lover of powerful and harmonious alternative indie rock, you can buy this without hesitation.
Keep an eye on ANARBOR; something big could come from them.
