This is the second hit album from the "Northern Sweden Six" that has been rocking through our sensitive eardrums since April 16.
Charlie Granberg, founder, singer, and main songwriter, claims to despise his hometown like the plague. Despite this extremely negative attitude, Charlie continues to amaze. Perhaps he needs this negative soil to write the exact lyrics and songs found on “MADNESS & GRACE.”
“MADNESS & GRACE” is a raw diamond, on which the Swedes produce pearls cast in notes and chords with extraordinary depth.
Accompanied by lyrics about drug addiction, the loneliness of people in the city and the countryside, lost friendships, one’s own childhood, as well as all facets of love, life, and death are addressed.
Neil Young, CCR, and the Allman Brothers are clearly recognizable in the sound of the Swedes. The legendary tender acoustic fourth track “VERA” also drives melancholy into one’s veins.
A real hype began when HU infected everyone in Scandinavia with their self-titled album. MTV and others jumped on the rising and charging train. They pushed HU until sunrise.
This did not harm the Swedish rock epic - ICE; on the contrary.
In conclusion, it can be said that HU, if not only in Sweden reaching 6th place in the charts, will certainly not remain just a secret tip in Europe.
