Dear readers of the Düsseldorf punk rock scene. painwords are back, louder and dirtier than before. After an excursion into the realm of L(F)abel, they return. Back to their roots, back to punk rock!
The current album, which is available for free online at the moment, features 9 raw diamonds that need no polishing because we are simply hearing what we have wanted to hear for the past 10 years. Fine, rough, and melodic punk rock. The album, which was recorded entirely independently, is a collection of old songs that have been re-recorded as well as some brand new hits. Particularly noteworthy is the ballad-like "Es wird vergehen", which clearly shows that punk rock = diversity. It is acoustically recorded, and the raspy voice of frontman Chris Wagner is complemented by a lovely female voice. A wonderful duet with a wonderful piece. It represents pretty much everything you can do with a band, sing-along tracks (College Fuck Fest, Feind Mensch), political jabs against the right (Toleranza Zero), as well as a brutal mix of metal elements and hard-hitting punk rock in the league of Fahnenflucht and Betontod.
However, I personally have a small issue. The film quotes that have been incorporated as an intro annoy me a bit. This somewhat detracts from the enjoyment of the music and encourages skipping ahead.
But since it’s available for free, this album can only be rated highly.
