Bavarian or, in the case of SIGI MARON, Viennese is, in itself, a funny dialect. Even though the Bavarians and the Viennese might stone me for mentioning these two dialects in one sentence, they are still amusing.
Not so amusing are the socially critical lyrics of SIGI MARON, who presents another live album two years after the album "Live am Attersee" discussed by Aldi. I am somewhat surprised that "es is net ollas ans" was recorded at the ORF, in the Austrian Radio Culture House in Vienna, because with his lyrics, SIGI MARON launches a broadside against banks, politics, and the whole business. Even though I don't fully understand all the lyrics, the content is not friendly towards Haider, and we know well enough what the Austrians choose or what leaders they have (thank God they "had"!). The extensive booklet does include the lyrics, but it doesn't really help me much further; it's just a funny dialect J.
Musically, SIGI MARON, who has been writing songs for 40 years, is stuck in the sound world of the 70s. You can clearly hear BOB MARLEY, THE DOORS, and TON STEINE SCHERBEN, accompanied by a brass orchestra. SIGI MARON also draws his inspirations from his compatriots, like Udo Jürgens with "without us, nothing works" and E.V.A. with "the housemaster".
However, 69 minutes of Viennese is enough for me for the next few months, and that's exactly why SIGI MARON will probably never manage to perform north of the Weißwurst Equator.
