30 years, best goods, that's what the opulent work of SPRINGTOIFEL from Mainz is called.
To celebrate their 30th anniversary, the band collaborated with Puke Music from Berlin to create a Best-Of that reflects all phases of the band's creative journey.
30 years is a long time, and the band from Mainz has never been idle. So it's not surprising that here two CDs are presented, packed full of songs from all creative phases. Over 150 minutes of SPRINGTOIFEL!
Included are songs from their debut work “Tanz der Teufel” as well as from their last release in 2007 “Engelstrompeten und Teufelsposaunen”.
The band has arranged the songs chronologically on the CDs, allowing listeners to work their way from the oldest works to the most recent. It's not only exciting to hear the old songs that today come across almost as minimalist punk, but also to witness the band's development. One can tell that the band hasn't really changed much. From the very beginning, it has been Oi-Punk with a high party factor. And it still is today.
Not everyone may own the band's early releases, nor want to pay the dizzying prices online or at record fairs.
I certainly don't need to say another word about SPRINGTOIFEL as a band. The Toifel are a band that has its roots in Oi-Punk, and occasional excursions into Schlager, ska punk, and dance music are not foreign to them. The band can also write serious lyrics, but funny and silly texts are more their forte. With singer Olaf Stoi, the band has a phenomenal showman who alone gets the clubs dancing. When the band starts playing for dancing, the hall shakes.
Listing the band's favorite songs is pointless, with 46 songs spread across the two discs, all remastered by the way.
SPRINGTOIFEL fans will surely let this double CD run hot in their CD players. And for those who haven't yet fallen for the band, this release is highly recommended as a gateway drug.
“30 Jahre Beste Ware” is crack for the ears. It's addictive. It's fun. A must-have.
