The horror punks of DR. GEEK AND THE FREAKSHOW continue with their third album "Death of Missy" where they left off with their second album "Ghoul Shock" (see my review from 2 ¾ years ago http://www.ramtatta.de/s/reviews/f/details/id/6304/). With their awesome melodic horror punk rock wrapped in a tight metal coat, they captivate me from the very first second. Their musical parallels to the MISFITS albums "American Psycho" and "Famous Monsters" from the second half of the 90s are simply fantastic, featuring Michale Graves, whose vocals are more harmonious and softer than those of Glenn Danzig. For the "true and right" MISFITS fan, there has always been only one singer..... The original....
Nevertheless, Dr. Tiberius Geek does a great job at the microphone. Together with Zombiehl and Frankensteiner, the trio from Saarland extracts everything from the musical genre and scores big with 13 out of 14 songs! As easy as it is to define the one song that I absolutely do not like, it is just as difficult to highlight one of the incredibly awesome 13 songs. That is impossible! All the other 13 songs just rock..... Only this one, the first and so far only German-language song by DR. GEEK AND THE FREAKSHOW "Zombiecalypse", I do not like at all; this song is definitely not horror punk and simply does not fit with the horror punkers. "Zombiecalypse" totally reminds me of DIE SCHRÖDERS (la la la la la......) with their pop-punk. Also, the lyrics and the style, no Dr. Geek & Freaks should stick to English :-)
The other 13 songs, all between 1¾ and 4½ minutes long, are a blast and additionally feature some good guest singers on one or two tracks, like Rod Usher from THE OTHER.
What am I rambling about with a bloody mouth? Listen to or watch the song "Revenge" on YouTube and be equally thrilled. And before leprosy makes your hand fall off, buy the record (just write to drgeekandthefreakshow@gmx.de or check Amazon, iTunes & Co) but do it quickly.
And then, while preparing for the next zombie walk or while shuffling through the city, turn up the music nice and loud :-)
Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the booklet, whether it is adorned with many gruesome pictures or just represents a loveless little sheet, as I do not have that information. Also, I don't have the lyrics, which is a shame...
