"Is that your question? Whether something is wrong with me?" This line from a dialogue in the great film “No Country for Old Men” is asked after the first song on the new album by AMEN 81.
The fact that something is definitely wrong here may have prompted the band from Nuremberg to release an album after eight years.
AMEN 81 have always been somewhat in the back of my mind, but I have neither seen the band nor engaged with them much. And now this, the new album “Attack of the Chemtrails”.
Thirteen songs, full throttle.
Evil, edgy, aggressive, with a very unique touch, a very distinct sense of humor.
The band compresses the anger of recent years into these thirteen songs; I can’t explain what comes out of the speakers any other way. If this only concerns the last few days, I’m getting scared.
Classic hardcore punk, partly multi-voiced singing, a pounding drum, an aggressive guitar, and a sinister, rumbling bass.
This is what punk used to be before it was watered down by pseudo-bands. No “One must think big” or “One shouldn’t generalize.” No, here there are simply statements that are true and don’t hedge. It sounds strange, but in today’s times, it is very refreshing because it is rare.
The songs demand your full attention while listening. No, that’s wrong; they require your full attention. Ignoring them is impossible. This is hardly suitable for background listening. The band wants to be heard, and they succeed.
AMEN 81 has been around since 1994, and you can count their album releases on one hand. They are also not often seen live. Maybe that’s why this album is so full of power and anger?!
The work will be released on vinyl, tape, and digitally.
P.S.:
Are there actually more Nazis than gingerbread in Nuremberg these days?
