Good cop, bad cop. The simple and effective game of law enforcement when they have you in a tight spot. The outcome, no matter how it turns out, is that there are no good police officers. So forget about “Good Cop, Bad Cop,” and just think “Bad Cop, Bad Cop.” Which brings us to the band from California.
BAD COP BAD COP has been around since 2011, and after an early lineup change and some challenges within the band, “The Ride” marks the band's third album. Once discovered and intensely supported by Fat Mike from Fat Wreck Chords, this album has also been (co)produced by Fat Mike.

The all-girl band, or rather all-women band, since Stacey, Jennie, Linh, and Myra have long since left their girlhood behind, has come together in recent years into a community that many may know. At least the name has been circulating intensively in the relevant areas over the past few years.
A purely female band has become rare these days. Even rarer is a band that stays together for more than five years. In this respect, there’s already a small bonus here. However, the band does not pay attention to this bonus but does exactly what they have done on their previous albums.
On “The Ride,” there is melodic, forward-driving punk rock from the California school. The twelve songs are a true ride through life, fitting to the album.
The whole thing comes across well, is perfectly made for summer, and is great for dancing, moshing, jumping around, and having fun (as long as we can do that legally and without fear again soon).
The lyrics process the current situation in which we (and the band) find ourselves. A situation that is increasingly uncertain even without Corona. Many of us are driven by constant changes. A situation that everyone handles differently, even though we probably all wish for the same thing. The lyrics provide courage, give strength. They take you by the hand and lift your spirits, despite the situation we all find ourselves in. This is a great strength of the band. The lyrics speak directly to you, give strength, and show that you are not alone in the world. These are lyrics that inspire courage, wrapped in music that is powerful, melodic, and forceful. Stylistically fueled by California punk rock.
BAD COP BAD COP has become even stronger, more powerful, yet more vulnerable and human with this album. Life has left its marks, but the positive aspects of life have remained. The most important thing in life, besides love, is a positive attitude. BAD COP BAD COP helps to preserve that.
