Finally!
After seeing SKASSAPUNKA from Milan several times at the small "Schokoladen" in Berlin, I feel the need to introduce this band.
SKASSAPUNKA was founded in 2008 in Milan. The guys loved punk and ska and wanted to show the world what they can do and where they stand. From the very beginning, the band felt the need to sing against the political and social situation. Too much has gone and continues to go wrong. Clearly leftist and full of energy, they have released seven albums so far. The EP "Aldo Chiama Ancora" discussed here was released in 2025.
The band mostly sings in their native Italian, but there are also a few songs that the band has sung in English. This EP features eight tracks, all of which are in Italian.
The band primarily plays ska-punk. I would describe their style as a mix of Talco (who also contributed to the EP), the legendary Banda Bassotti, a bit of FFD, and a pinch of Los Fastidios (under whose label KOB Records three albums of the band have been released). Additionally, there is a very distinct character to the songs, which is due to the well-accentuated vocals, but certainly also because the band has been around for 18 years and their direction is clear.
The band is not only politically active. They are also football fans. They have played concerts for the fans of St. Pauli and FSV Mainz 05.
The band's concerts are always parties. Togetherness is celebrated. There is dancing, drinking, and laughing. Everyone knows what it means to be at a concert of the band.
SKASSAPUNKA still wishes for a better world. They are not alone in this, and anyone who hears and sees the band will understand that this is a band that truly means what they sing.
SKASSAPUNKA provides the soundtrack for those who wish for a better, fairer world.
Anyone who likes Talco, FFD, or Banda Bassotti will also be able to embrace SKASSAPUNKA in their heart. The band deserves it.
The guys are still doing well this year.
