There has been a lot happening with BUSTER SHUFFLE from London.
A new label has signed the band. Instead of People Like You Records, it is now Burning Heart Records.
Additionally, there have been lineup changes within the band.
None of this is negatively noticeable when listening to the new album.
The new album “I´ll take what I want“ sounds cohesive. It is very harmonious in sound, even though it is quite diverse.
While the first album “Our Night Out“ was almost a proper ska record, the band has increasingly moved away from the original ska sound. They incorporated many influences and created their very own sound. This sound has been and continues to be given its unique vocal touch by singer Jet Baker, which is why the band's songs are instantly recognizable.
This recognition is primarily due to Jet Baker, as what the band presents with the twelve new songs on this album is more varied than ever. Ska is only heard in hints. It is more danceable (organ) pop. Can we call it Britpop? Or old-school pop, combined with traces of old rock'n'roll and vintage electronica sound? It is very difficult to describe the band's style. Now more than ever.
The album is pleasant to listen to, with many songs inviting relaxed dancing.
It brings good vibes and doesn’t sound too polished.
The band has maintained and preserved its own sense of wordplay, so that in songs like “Your Mommy is so hot for me“ it encourages not only dancing but also smiling.
BUSTER SHUFFLE have perfected their own style with this new album. You can hear and feel the (further) development of the band; however, this may ultimately lead to the remaining old fans saying goodbye. Nevertheless, the album is a lot of fun, and BUSTER SHUFFLE will find many new friends with this record.
And one thing can and must be emphasized: with their very own sound, BUSTER SHUFFLE has always remained true to themselves.
