The release of the new album by the Swedish band THE SENSITIVES was a few days ago, so please forgive me for the late review. Better late than never, a saying that applies to many situations in life, fits here as well. The band from the town of Falun, north of Stockholm, has been active since 2011 and has been very busy since its inception. Over 300 concerts have been completed so far, and now the sixth album is being released. The Swedes know no standstill, and even the pandemic, during which Sweden took a different approach than most countries, has not thrown too many obstacles in the band's way.
For many years, Sweden has been regarded as a particularly special origin for many bands that play solid punk rock. Swedish punk is also, quite rightly, a style "drawer." This is confirmed by this band with their new release “Patch it Up and Go!”.
Ska, punk rock, rock 'n' roll, and a lot of energy. These are the four cornerstones of the style.
The trio offers twelve songs on the album, which is only available digitally and on vinyl, that do not quite fit this time of year. Energy and good vibes, a truly hot summer punk rock record. Melody, energy, alternating vocals between Paulina and Martin, and captivating melodies. I've written melodies again, yes, that's what really comes through here. A casually played record that is all about fun.
Even though the band invites you to celebrate and have fun with this album, it is also important to them, or perhaps especially for that reason, to address topics that matter to them. Animal rights, mental health, and well-being are examples I would like to mention here.
THE SENSITIVES place themselves right in the way with this album, raise their middle finger, jump into the air, and off they go with full force and a grin on their faces. A really good record that is all about fun and shows why one should always pay attention to punk rock bands from Sweden.
